How to edit the form fields of a SharePoint List

Create a Custom list, add some columns.
Open Sharepoint Site from SPD.
CLick on List and Libraries
You will get all list and libraries at right side.
Click on List which you have create in First step.
You can find “Form” option in the right side.
In the same pane, you can find “New…”
Click “New…”
Enter Name. Ex: CustomEdit.aspx
Select “Edit Item form” radio button
Check Set as default form for the selected item
Click OK
Your new form has created. Click on “CustomEdit.aspx” which will be available in the same page and same pane.
Select Field which you want make it as Read only.
RIght click “Select properties”
RIght side you can find Tag properties
Under Misc section
Click ContrlMode.
Select value as “Display”
Save and close.
Now check try to edit any item in your list.
your field will come in read only mode

Edit the form fields of a SharePoint List

You will get all list and libraries at right side.
Click on List which you have create in First step.

Click after the placeholder of your page(Edit or new)
Click on Insert in the to menu–>SharePoint Controls–>Custom List form
Select List which you want from drop down…
Select radio button based on New, edit and display form..

Now you select control or row..

select properties–>visible =False

SharePoint 2010 make column read only
